Membership

 

BECOMING A MEMBER OF CRIME SEEN!

To become a member of CRIME SEEN! you must be *accredited and qualify under the following categories:

  1. you are a co-ordinator of a business crime reduction group e.g. City/shop/pubwatch etc. operating within the Wakefield District.

  2. you are a public/private body or agency working to reduce business crime within the Wakefield District.

  3. you are a business member of a City/shop/pubwatch who is an accredited member of CRIME SEEN!.

PLEASE NOTE: Individual Businesses cannot directly become members of CRIME SEEN! businesses must firstly become a member of an accedited watch group.

 

*AN ACCREDITED WATCH GROUP IS ONE THAT HAS COMPLETED THE CRIME SEEN! ACCREDITATION FORM AND BEEN ACCEPTED AS A MEMBER.

 

 

Membership to Pubwatch, Shopwatch, Forecourt Watch, or Truck Watch is extended to all businesses within the Wakefield District. Please contact your nearest watch group for details of how to become a member. Members of watch groups that are accredited members of CRIME SEEN! automatically qualify for membership to CRIME SEEN! and the benefits thereof, some of which are listed below.

 

Benefits for Partners and their Members!  

CRIME SEEN! will facilitate the flow of information and services between partners, gather and record intelligence which will lead to the  provision of the following services to partners and members:

  • Links to a network of Business Crime Reduction groups across all business sectors District Wide, sharing intelligence and best practice.

  • Access to information regarding Business Crime Trends, Business Crime Hot Spots and details of suspected offenders, through our National Business Information System (NBIS) a computerised intelligence database.

  • Contribute to the development of a District Wide partnership between Police, Local Authority and the Business Community targeting business crime.

  • Enables members of the initiative to take positive action using reference material and photographs of offenders to deter, detect and reduce crime.

  • Targets the major offenders, enabling existing security staff to have more effective use of resources.

  • Members work closer in partnership to share information legally and professionally, adhering to the 1998 Data Protection Act.

  • Information for members on related matters eg. preventing theft, identifying suspects, what to look for, what action to take and training.

  • CRIME SEEN! Website for Partnerships & members information, including Area Watch Updates, and Crime Alerts.

Membership to CRIME SEEN! is currently FREE to Partnerships their members and Agencies operating in the Wakefield District Area to reduce business crime.
